Travis was born in Echuca, Victoria, Australia, on July 15, 1979. Chris Fimmel and Jennie Fimmel have three kids, the youngest of whom is he. His father was a dairy farmer, and his mother was a nurse who also worked as a disability recreation officer.

Fimmel grew up on a 5500-acre farm between Melbourne and Sydney with his two older brothers.
