Cole Hamels is a pitcher for the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball. He has received All-Star honors in 2007, 2011, 2012, and 2016, as well as the World Services MVP award in 2008.

Colbert Michael Hamels was born on December 27, 1983, in San Diego, California. His father Gary Hamles and mother Amanda Hamels, as well as two other siblings, make up his family. Hamels attended San Diego’s Meadowbrook Middle School and Rancho Bernardo High School.

He was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the MLB Draft in 2002. In 2003, he transferred to the lower leagues and played for the South Atlantic League’s Class A Lakewood BlueClaws. He returned to the Phillies’ active roster after almost three seasons, and the team paid him $500,000. The next season, he and the organization agreed to a three-year, $20.5 million contract.

 

In 2012, the Phillies and he agreed to a one-year contract worth $15 million. Because of his improving statistics, he signed a six-year contract with the Phillies for $144 million on July 24, the same year. Nonetheless, following the 2014 season, his time with the Phillies came to an end. In 2015, he joined the Texas Rangers and played until the 2017 season, before joining the Chicago Cubs for the 2018 season.

The Braves recently signed the 35-year-old. On December 4, 2019, he and the organization agreed a massive one-year contract for $18 million.

In terms of his personal life, he and his wife, Heidi Strobel, have been married for approximately thirteen years. On December 31, 2006, they walked down the aisle for the first time. Caleb Michael Hamels was born in 2009, and Raxton Hamels was born in 2010. They have three children together: two sons, Caleb Michael Hamels and Raxton Hamels, and a daughter, Reeve Mackenzi. Reeve, their Ethiopian-born daughter, was also adopted by the couple.

His wife was a contestant on the sixth season of the reality television show Survivor: The Amazon.
